Statoil chooses Zalaris to deliver HR Services

09th April, 2014

Zalaris, a leading provider of cloud-based payroll and HR outsourcing services and solutions, today announced a five-year agreement to provide a broad range of HR functions to Stavanger, Norway-based Statoil, one of the world’s largest energy companies. With global 2013 revenue of 632.5 billion NOK and more than 23,000 employees, Statoil will initially rely on Zalaris for travel and expense reimbursement services worldwide―supporting People Operations & Control functions, along with Statutory Leave & Reconciliation of HR accounts across Norwegian business units. The agreement also encompasses various HR reporting and related services delivery to Statoil employees and managers as part of the integrated Zalaris solution.

Zalaris plan to expand the service offering in the specified areas, with global HR support capabilities based on the transferred unit consisting of approximately 30 Statoil professionals. The undertaking includes Zalaris opening new service centers in Stavanger as well as Porsgrunn, Norway, to support Statoil and other prospective Zalaris clients operating in the North Sea. Statoil’s selection process correlated to Zalaris’ strengths in the overall HR profession, SAP Human Capital Management systems and its well-established presence in Norway, supporting nearshore and offshore delivery concepts.

“This agreement with Statoil represents a significant milestone in our strategic direction,” commented Zalaris CEO Hans-Petter Mellerud. “We see the partnership as very beneficial to Statoil, of course, but it also signifies how we’re deepening expertise in all industries associated with oil and gas. The opportunities extend beyond immediate geographies, where we currently operate, to other countries such as Scotland, England, Germany and the United States. We already stand out in the Nordic market as a preferred provider of HR solutions. We’re now strengthening our position to become a global provider of HR outsourcing services.” commented Mellerud, noting that the Stavanger location will be the company’s primary service center for clients operating in the North Sea.

Many of today’s leading corporations increasingly recognize that HR, payroll and related services are better managed externally, with Zalaris among the top choices for integrated SAP environments. The advantages include the opportunity for affected personnel to move ahead with Zalaris, which offers great career potential, given its success and promising outlook in a high-growth field. Zalaris not only helps companies reduce costs but also improve HR reporting and service, as well as payroll processing, on local, regional and global levels.
